This presentation is taken directly from my MA research, which went up close and took an indepth look into the dialogues on internet dating websites. At it's time this was were the frission of social interchange was charging across the web.

Remember that this research was BF (before Facebook after all). So we might think that mediated social interaction is second nature, but - as this presentation reveals - there are rules to adhere to and modes of etiquette that indviduals who are seeking a significant other must encounter. In short, you can't hide behind untruths for long.

Today, it could be argued thta the Facebook Page has taken all those 'real' elements of any dating profile and added a Poke.
