BBCYork's on Twitter

When I am fortunate enough to 'do stuff' for the BBC, you get to make connections. The following presentation follows the 'social media' brief from BBCYork as an introduction for their presenter's and producer's on audience engagement; the what, how and where and with some future possibilities to tie things up in a 'neat bow'.

This is a VERY basic introduction, but starts to hook into new accounts of the Citizen Journalism (CJ) that has emerged. A great post on the accompanying rise of CJ is by the digital van guard of the BBC and Head of Digital at Edelman PR, Robin Hamman / cybersoc. I thoroughly recommend his blog cybersoc.com and his accompanying Twitter feed, which has a tendency to flit from interesting to down right remarkable.

The proliferation of digital 'stuff' and involved audience has led to a dramatic increase in the touch points of (dramatic) real time, real place content.

One way to keep up is to ensure participation from audience to newsroom, to the journalists and broadcaster's in the studio. Or, as another favourite of mine, Jeff Jarvis, has rather aptly put it, to keep our antennae up.

By way of this presentation I am always delighted to share and encourage BBCYork and friends to keep their antennae pointing in the right direction.
